There are a range of community activities in the Learning Support Department. This department supports learners across the school community. Support is offered inside lessons and during registration and lunch-times.
In Class Support
This involves supporting younger learners in the classroom for one or two hours each week. You can use your experience at school to advise and help younger students in the classroom.
You will be placed in subjects where you feel confident that you can offer meaningful help.
Homework Club
This is a homework club in the library every lunch time. Three or four sixth formers spend lunch times (one hour) helping younger students to complete their homework.
Group Play Reading
This involves reading short plays with small groups for two morning registrations with the support of two teaching assistants.
You will receive training and feedback.
You will be expected to work for two hours each week in this department.
When: Wednesday afternoon/study periods/lunchtime/registration time – total 2 hours weekly
How Long: Two terms (all year if possible)
