6th Form: GCE Applied Travel and Tourism
SKILLS REQUIRED

THE COURSE
This course aims to provide an understanding of one of the world's fastest growing industries and consists of six units, covering the nature of the travel and tourist industry, the implications of this for both the Western and developing world, trends in tourism, marketing, customer service, worldwide destinations and event management.
Units will be assessed through a combination of both internally and externally assessed portfolio work, which includes externally assessed tests and assignments.
CAREER POSSIBILITIES
The rapid growth of this industry locally in recent years has led to a massive expansion in the range of career opportunities in accommodation and catering, tour operations, transportation, travel agencies, theme parks, tourist attractions, tourism development and promotion, heritage interpretation and leisure management. This course will prepare you well for these sources of employment as well as provide a sound introduction for one of the many related degree courses on offer.
GCSE GRADE PROFILE
Students who study this subject will normally achieve A* to C grades in at least 4 GCSE subjects.
