History Battlefields Trip

In April 2006 the History Department took 40 Year 10 pupils to visit the museums, cemeteries and battlefields of World War One. The pupils study the AQA Modern World syllabus so the visit is a curriculum based trip which aims to enhance their understanding of World War One. We went on Friday 7 April and returned on Monday 10 April. The Saturday was spent visiting the Ypres area in Belgium, with the focus on Sunday being the Somme. The trip was staffed by members of the GCSE teaching team; Mr I Price (Trip Leader, Head of History), Mrs J Trohear (Second in Department and Assistant Trip Leader), Mr C Hardwell, Mr A Crease and Miss K McAlpine.
