Information : How We Do This
At the centre of all that Huntington School does is a slow-grown ethos that has been developed over many years under three Headteachers. Everyone on this site works hard to maintain the feeling round this site that anyone, if they work hard, can be successful and reach their targets. As you walk round Huntington we hope you notice a sense of pace and purpose; that you feel the buzz.

If pupils are to be confident learners they must first feel safe on a crowded site; particularly at lesson changeover times, during breaks and lunchtimes. All our rules are not only designed to make this happen, but are consistently enforced so that this does happen.
Pupils can only learn if no one is disrupting their classes. When pupils choose to persistently disrupt other students in lessons we withdraw them from lessons and will use 'exclusions' to give other pupils a break.
We try to offer many possibilities for pupils to take responsibilities to help their personal development. Huntington School students regularly: write articles for the termly newsletter for parents (Years 9 to 11); show candidates for teaching posts round the school (Years 10 and 11); help out at Parents' Evenings and Open Evenings (all Years).
Real self-confidence we believe comes from pupils facing challenges and overcoming them. Did you know that one of the challenges Huntington School offers is the chance to take part in putting on a school show, from start to finish in a single week? In the last four years we have given the Show in a Week treatment to: "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "Return to the Forbidden Planet", "Grease" and "Anything Goes".
In 2003 to 2004 we gave out to pupils 250 Awards at the Awards Evening in November; 111 cinema vouchers for special achievements and full attendance in July and even presented 50 certificates for Fantasy football.
Huntington School Year 10 students each year prepare, cook and serve a Christmas Dinner for over 100 Senior Citizens and give them each a present to take home.
Did you know that in the modern world nothing limits life choices more than not getting certain exam qualifications?
