Course description
Visual Arts continually create new possibilities and can challenge traditional boundaries. This is evident both in the way we make art and in the way we understand what artists from around the world do. Theory and practice in visual arts are dynamic, ever changing and connect many areas of study and human experience through individual and collaborative production and interpretation.
The Visual Arts course aims to develop creative and imaginative skills using a wide variety of techniques and fine art processes. Students will be given the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively, developing new and existing skills throughout the duration of the course.
Course content
Throughout the course students will:
This work will take the form of Studio Work and the Investigation Workbook.
Studio Work
These are the outcomes that will have been investigated and fully developed in the Investigation Workbook, and will vary depending on the area studied. It will be expected that Studio Work will take the form of a wide variety of different media and processes appropriate to intentions.
Investigation Workbook
You will develop skills and techniques of creative investigation in the IWB, in both visual and written formats. The IWB will be used as a sketchbook to analyse art in cultural and historical contexts, and make links to ideas. Studio work must clearly link to the investigation undertaken in the IWB.
