Friends of Huntington School York

At the start of this school year we would like to thank everyone for their support over the last year and we would like to welcome all new parents and their children to the school.  As a parent/carer of a child at our school you are automatically part of Friends of Huntington School York.  We hope we can help you with our recycled uniform or selling at one of our car boot sales and that you might support us and have some fun at our Quiz Night or Christmas Fair or donate a Bag2School or Ink Cartridge, shop with
Easyfundraising or join our 100 Club.
From Sept 2013 we are raising funds for our new Modern Foreign Language (MFL) building and the subsequent move of the Biology department. We aim to raise as near to £50,000 as possible.

Funds raised to date (Feb 2014) - New MFL building

100 Club
This will cost £10 per year (£1 a month per each number).  The 100 Club will start in January 2014 and there will be a draw at the end of each month (not including July and August) where 50% of the takings will be given out in prizes.  This gives you a 1 in 100 chance of winning.  If you would like to take part in 100 Club - email us at [email protected] and we will send you a standing order form.  You can then return this to us and we will send it on to your bank for them to pay on January 19th.  The first draw will take place at the end of January.  This is a great way to help us support the school.

July 2013 - We have now given £4000 to school to help fund  Literacy projects within school.

Quiz Night October 2013
Thanks to all 19 teams who entered this year with 'Out of the Woods' winning this year.  A special mention must go to Mr Tomsett for once again being our quiz master.  We raised just over £300 at this event and everyone had fun, even if your team was at the lower end of the leaderboard!

Easyfundraising and Easysearch
Whilst doing your shopping online this Christmas support us at no extra cost to yourself.
An easy way for everyone to help us to raise money is by using Easyfundraising and Easysearch.  By using Easyfundraising every time you shop online, you can raise money without any cost to you.  There are also some ways to raise money without shopping and also vouchers to save you money. With over 2000 retailers you are sure to find a shop you normally use.

Easysearch is powered by Yahoo and Bing! Every search raises 0.5p which doesn't sound like a lot, but think about how many searches you do as a family each week.

We have so far raised over £450 with just 20
people using it.  To get involved go to

  Recycled Uniform
We are very short of 2nd Hand Uniform supplies, in particular  blue jumpers and PE kit.  If you have any items of uniform from jumpers, ties, blouses, shirts, trousers, skirts or PE kit that  you can donate to our 2nd Hand Uniform stocks please drop them off at school reception or in the porch at 23 Kingsclere, Huntington.  We wash all items and mend any that need repairing.  We then sell these on at a cost of no more than £3 for a jumper.  Our stock can be seen by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page or going direct to 2nd Hand Uniform page from the Information tab on the home page of the website. 2nd Hand Uniform is not available during the school holidays, but items needed can be requested by contacting Joanne Olsen on 07790 837855 or emailing [email protected]  We will then endeavour to get them as near to the start of term as possible.

 Bag2School Textile Collection

Our next collection will be at the Xmas Fair on Sat 23rd November

We raised £150 from our collection in June 2013

We raised £200 from our collection in March 2013.

We raised £133 from our November 2012 collection.

 The Big Read
We are currently raising money for The Big Read.  This is a project in school aimed at letting children choose a book that they will be able to keep as their own.   There is proof that book ownership helps children to raise their literacy levels.  We hope that by being a reading school and children having books that are their own to keep we will help children to raise their life chances.

If you have any contacts that may be able to help us with an event please get in touch.  We always welcome any input from parents and our local community.  If you would like to be involved, either by becoming a committee member or a helper at our events, we would love to hear from you.
