Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is taught in subject areas and the overview of what is taught in each subject is available here.  We also develop certain aptitudes in students during their Key Stage 3 experience which are based on Guy Claxton's Big 8.  Details of our approach to the Big 8 are detailed below.

If you would like to know anything further about our Key Stage 3 curriculum, please contact Mrs Brierley, Deputy Headteacher, at a.brierley@huntington-ed.org.uk.

The Big 8 curriculum focuses across all subject areas on the following broad topics:

  • Courage
  • Curiosity
  • Discipline
  • Experimentation
  • Exploration
  • Imagination
  • Sociability
  • Thoughtfulness

The theme changes each half term throughout Year 7, each half term starting with an assembly on the topic and culminating with a Big 8 Newsletter showing how the topic has been interpreted in various subjects.

The topic for this half term is Imagination.
