COURSE DESCRIPTION
This fascinating and enjoyable course leads to a greater awareness of the relationship between society and the individual. The focus in lessons will be on reaching understanding through discussion of the issues from the key topics being studied. This course fits in well with lots of other subjects, especially those that deal with people and their ideas.

Assessment
- Each unit will have a 2 hour written exam (80 marks)
- Each unit represents 33.3% of A-level
CAREER POSSIBILITIES
This course leads to a wide range of careers which deal intensively with people, for example, personnel management, police, social work, nursing, teaching and some areas of the law, or leads to careers making, carrying out or advising on social policy (especially in local authorities or the national Civil Service). Sociology is also an excellent subject to support entry to a wide range of Higher education and university courses.
GCSE GRADE PROFILE
Students who study Sociology must achieve 5 GCSE grades from 9 – 4 in a range of subjects, including a grade 5 in English and a grade 5 in another Humanities subject.
