As a Student Support Leader, you’ll be at the heart of daily school life, ensuring every student receives the pastoral care they need to succeed. Under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher (Care and Inclusion) you will:

Work with our attendance team, families and agencies to remove barriers to learning.

Support positive behaviour across the school, applying the Behaviour Policy and working directly with students and staff to improve conduct and engagement.

Champion student well-being, responding to concerns, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring our most vulnerable learners are safe, supported, and included.

Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and professionals.

Play a key role in safeguarding, inclusion, and multi-agency working.
You’ll also be a visible presence throughout the school day, ready to act swiftly and sensitively in support of students and staff.
Previous experience of managing behaviour and attendance within a secondary school would be an advantage, along with knowledge of strategies which promote good behaviour and discipline. We are looking for a confident person who can deal with students, parents and outside agencies effectively in situations that will require diplomacy and tact.

HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT - Reading Intervention Lead
Full time, Permanent
Grade 7 £31,497 - £33,727

Huntington is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school with a Sixth Form taking our total student numbers over 1500, which includes over 300 students in the Sixth Form. Our students achieve excellent results, year-in, year-out, both at GCSE and A-level.
We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver high‑quality reading support through small‑group and one-to-one interventions, working primarily with pupils in lower Key Stage 3 and, over time, Key Stage 4. Strong knowledge of phonics‑based intervention is essential. Experience with Read Write Inc. and other reading interventions or assessment tools is desirable but not required, as full training will be provided.
Working closely with the Whole‑School Reading Leader and the SENDCO, the post‑holder will play an active role in coordinating and delivering weekly intervention timetables within our Hub setting. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work regularly with some of our most disadvantaged pupils and make a lasting impact on their progress and long-term outcomes. The role also contributes to strengthening reading continuity between the primary and secondary phases.
Most interventions will take place within our inclusion space. However, there may be occasions where support is delivered in‑class to individual pupils or small groups within a reading context.

COVER SUPERVISOR
Grade 5 £26,748 - £27,935 per annum
(£20,949 - £21,879 pro rata for 33.75 hours term time)
PERMANENT, PART TIME
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team. We seek commitment, professionalism and a passion for putting the children first. While we would prefer to appoint someone 6.75 hours a day (Monday to Friday, term time only), there is flexibility to consider fewer hours for the right candidate.
As a Cover Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising students during short term teacher absences and assist in preparing the learning environment and the materials required. You will cover lessons of any subject using the cover work set by the teacher, set high expectations to motivate and challenge students whilst managing behaviour effectively and promoting a positive learning environment.
The post would suit an individual considering a teaching career, but applications are welcome from any candidate with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. The successful candidate will be confident and have the ability to manage whole class situations, is resilient, able to project a sense of authority and would like to play a vital part in the continued success of this high-achieving school.
You will be working with students aged 11-18, and need to have the ability to motivate and encourage them to develop and achieve in the school environment. You will also need to be responsive to the individual needs of our students and promote the inclusion of all students in the school. No previous experience is required as full training will be given – however, you must have excellent communication skills, ICT capability and be able to work on your own initiative.
