Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive both personally and academically? Do you have the resilience, initiative, and compassion to make a difference every day? Huntington School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Student Support Leader to join our outstanding pastoral team.

‘This is a calm school where staff expect pupils to behave well. They are not disappointed. When pupils require guidance and help to improve their behaviour, this is quick to occur’ Ofsted 2023

As a Student Support Leader, you’ll be at the heart of daily school life, ensuring every student receives the pastoral care they need to succeed. Under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher (Care and Inclusion) you will:

  • Work with our attendance team, families and agencies to remove barriers to learning.

  • Support positive behaviour across the school, applying the Behaviour Policy and working directly with students and staff to improve conduct and engagement.

  • Champion student well-being, responding to concerns, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring our most vulnerable learners are safe, supported, and included.

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and professionals.

  • Play a key role in safeguarding, inclusion, and multi-agency working.

You’ll also be a visible presence throughout the school day, ready to act swiftly and sensitively in support of students and staff.

Previous experience of managing behaviour and attendance within a secondary school would be an advantage, along with knowledge of strategies which promote good behaviour and discipline. We are looking for a confident person who can deal with students, parents and outside agencies effectively in situations that will require diplomacy and tact.

The school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
