Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information (LMI) refers to data about the world of work. It includes information such as which jobs are in demand, what skills employers are looking for, average salaries, employment trends, and future job growth. Understanding LMI is a key part of careers research and future planning. It helps you make informed decisions about your education, training, and career path.

By using LMI, you can explore which sectors are growing, where job opportunities are likely to be in the future, and what qualifications or experience you might need to succeed in a particular field. It’s especially useful when choosing GCSEs, Level 3 qualifications (like A levels), or post-18 options, as it helps you align your choices with real-world opportunities.

All students at our school have access to Unifrog, which is one of the best sources of LMI available. You can explore job profiles, compare careers, and see up-to-date data on salaries, demand, and required skills. Every student has access using their school email and the password they created (which can be easily reset if forgotten).

There are also several other excellent sources of LMI that we recommend:

It’s especially useful for students planning their next steps after Level 3 qualifications. It's 'What can I do with my degree?' tool is especially useful for students who are planning to go to university, but don't have a specific career in mind.
