We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team in the ERP. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children and young people with autism and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), helping them thrive both in the ERP and in the wider school environment.
About the Role
Working in partnership with both teachers and TA’s the post holder will be expected to work with individuals and small groups of students to plan and deliver teaching and learning objectives, specifically in English, Maths and Science to maximise their learning opportunities. Although you don't need be a qualified teacher it is essential that you have teaching experience either in a primary or secondary setting.

We need someone who:

Has strong subject knowledge across the core curriculum.

Can confidently plan and deliver interventions for pupils with communication and interaction needs.

Has experience working with children with SEN, especially those who display behaviours that challenge.

Is flexible and able to respond to the changing needs of pupils throughout the day.

Can support pupils with co-regulation and reintegration into classroom routines.

Is a positive, proactive team player with a “can-do” attitude.
Additional Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for inputting data and completing SCERTS assessments for your class.

You’ll receive 3 hours of protected planning time each week, plus prep time before and after school.

Occasionally, you may be asked to cover other classes in emergencies.

You’ll take part in weekly staff briefings to share good practice and support each other.

Regular planning support will be available to help you succeed in your role.
About Huntington School Enhanced Resource provision
Huntington ERP is a specialist provision on site, that opened in September 2023. It offers a supportive and nurturing learning environment for children and young people to reach their potential. All children and young people in the ERP will have an EHCP with a primary need of Communication and Interaction (with and without a diagnosis of autism) and are likely to have had support at primary focussed on self-esteem, social anxiety and managing their environment. The ERP will provide a specialist education for those children and young people with social interaction and communication differences and related social anxiety.
Children and young people will be taught by teachers and HLTA’s in small groups for the majority of the school day. They will access the mainstream school at Huntington for some lessons, with the number of lessons dependent on strengths and specific interests. The enhanced support will focus on building confidence in social interactions in a nurturing environment, to gain confidence in themselves, become more independent and progress their learning to ensure successful outcomes for adult life.
