Huntington Sixth Form

Welcome to Huntington Sixth Form! This page contains all the information you need to explore and apply for our Sixth Form. It will be regularly updated with new documents, booking links and other key information.

Director's Welcome

I am proud to introduce you to a thriving, ambitious and supportive community where our Sixth Form students receive everything they need to achieve their full potential.

We offer a broad and inclusive curriculum with a range of qualifications, courses and assessment styles to suit different strengths. We can therefore find the right combination of subjects and qualifications for each student, from traditional A-levels to a range of Level 3 Diplomas and Certificates.

At Huntington, students benefit from teachers who have both high expectations and the expertise to help students meet them. This teacher-student partnership is the core of our proven track record of superb academic achievement, supported by a culture that values hard work, curiosity and resilience.

Beyond the classroom, students benefit from a vibrant and inclusive culture where they are encouraged to explore their personal development interests, master new skills, and form lasting friendships. Alongside our flagship Personal Development Programme, we have a wide range of opportunities for student leadership, community action, trips, visits, clubs and social events.

Our students explore aspirational post-16 opportunities. Students set their sights high and pursue areas of academic and vocational interest. Huntington has a strong track record of supporting students into top universities, including Oxbridge and schools of medicine, veterinary medicine and law. We also help students secure competitive degree apprenticeship places and other sought-after opportunities.

Our teachers offer tailored academic support, pastoral 1:1 mentoring and bespoke careers advice. We take pride in fostering a nurturing environment where students feel confident, valued and inspired to succeed. Huntington offers specialist, personalised pastoral care delivered by our dedicated Sixth Form team.

It is a combination of academic rigour, enrichment opportunities and a sense of community that makes Huntington Sixth Form an outstanding environment in which to work hard and grow as an individual. Every year, we are always delighted to welcome students from across the City of York and beyond, alongside most Huntington School Year 11 students.

Choosing where to study post-16 is a significant decision, and we are here to help you make the right choice. I encourage you to explore our website, attend open events, and speak to current students and staff to get a real sense of what makes Huntington Sixth Form special. Please do get in touch – I look forward to welcoming you into our community and supporting you on your journey to success.

Warm regards,

Mr Hugh Richards

Director of Sixth Form
